The weekend of 19th May to 22nd May saw members of the Eulogica team attend the 2016 NAFD AGM at the Europa Hotel in Belfast. This is the first time the NAFD conference has been held in Belfast.

Thursday evening started with a welcome buffet at the Parliament Buildings on the Stormont estate, the seat of the Government in Northern Ireland. This was a great opportunity to get a rare behind the scenes look at one of Belfast’s most beautiful and historic buildings.

The AGM was opened on Friday by Mervyn Storey MLA, Minister of Finance & Personnel at the Northern Ireland Assembly. This was a lively meeting with lots of discussion and questions on issues affecting the funeral sector.

Saturday focused on education with presentations including, The changing face of cremation services in the UK, from Martin Birch, President of the Institute of Cemetery & Crematorium Management; Emerging trends within US funerals, by Christine Pepper, CEO of the National Funeral Directors’ Association in America and an insight into a new solution to accelerate the natural disposition of human remains by Tony Ennis of ecoLegacy.

Sunday morning saw the installation of officers for 2016. All at Eulogica would like to congratulate William Millar, the first member of the NAFD Northern Ireland Area Federation to be elected President, on a successful year, and wish new President Jeremy Field all the very best for his year in office.
