Description

Most Funeral Directors maintain an inventory of certain items—from products like urns or coffins, to smaller items like document folders. At the same time, every business needs to maintain a balance between too much and too little inventory, in order to provide good client service at a reasonable cost. With the Eulogica Inventory module, much of this can be automated.

If the company is already using Eulogica to track the products that go into funerals, the Eulogica Inventory module can be added to automatically update stock levels. Shortcuts can also then be configured for quick access to inventory lists, low stock level information, and other selected data. Suitable reports can be designed and printed according to business needs. Immediate alerts can be raised if stock levels fall below pre-set limits. [1]

Inventory management involves planning and monitoring to ensure that the business has stock of the right products and quantities available at the right time. Having too little can lead to problems with meeting client needs, or extra costs due to rush orders in small quantities—however, having too much stock consumes working capital and storage space. Also, an annual stock-taking is typically undertaken for use in a company’s financial statements. A professional inventory management system can assist with achieving a good balance while providing the necessary monitoring and reports.

The heart of the Eulogica Inventory module is a page in the Eulogica product window. For defined product groups, this is used to manage and monitor stock movements for each product. The current quantity in stock is displayed, a suitable reorder level can be specified, and adjustments can be made to the stock situation along with reasons and notes. All stock movements are logged with staff code, date and time, reference number etc.

The Eulogica Dashboard module, if installed, may also be used to monitor stock levels and raise alerts. [2]

Optional alerts

Immediate stock level alerts may or may not be helpful as a product is entered to a funeral. In smaller companies, the same person may be responsible both for the inventory and for arranging funerals—but in a larger business, these will tend to be separate roles. Therefore, immediate stock level alerts are optional in Eulogica. For companies with more distinct roles, we recommend preparing shortcuts, reports or dashboards for the purpose of monitoring inventory and highlighting any low stock levels. [2]

Price or no price

A product does not need to have a price, or even be visible to clients, for inventory management to be helpful. If the business is providing certain items to clients free of charge—like books or folders—or even just consuming them internally, like hygienic products, it may still be important to keep track of inventory levels for the purposes of reporting, timely reordering etc. Eulogica can be configured for managing any such information.
