For more than 30 years, pieces of novelty telephones featuring superstar cartoon cat Garfield have been washing up on the beaches of Brittany, France. Confused locals had no idea where these feline phones were coming from until late March this year, when anti-litter campaigners tracked them back to a shipping container, lost during a storm in the 1980s, which was found full of the bright orange devices. Unfortunately it is part buried and completely inaccessible, so it looks like these most unusual sea creatures will continue to haunt the beach for years to come.
