NFE 2013 Cruise Trip Draw

At last year’s National Funeral Exhibition, Eulogica and Adstate jointly held a prize draw to win a Mediterranean cruise. The lucky winners were Emma and Richard Arnold of Gateway Funeral Service, Birkenshaw. Here, Richard tells us a little about their holiday in the sun.

“We were on a ship called the Costa Luminosa, which was like a floating palace! It had 13 floors on which you could find anything – a theatre, a cinema, tennis courts, gyms, casinos, two swimming pools…! We boarded in Barcelona, then sailed overnight to Marseille before sailing on to Savona and returning to Barcelona. We went shopping in Savona, as well as visiting several very ornate churches, and visited the cathedral in Barcelona while touring the city.”

“The food was fantastic,” continues Richard. “It was all-inclusive, and as well as the main restaurant there was a whole deck which was just an array of food courts! If you wanted to, you could have eaten constantly from 6am until midnight! You could get anything you wanted, from French fries to sirloin steaks. We even treated ourselves to a room service breakfast one morning! We also purchased a drinks package, which included any drink except for champagne and some aged spirits. Much to Emma’s delight the package included cocktails!”

“Each night there was a cabaret act in the theatre, and most of the bars had some sort of entertainment, ranging from magicians to opera. One evening we watched a comedian/ventriloquist who was superb, and did his whole act in four languages! It was a very relaxing break, which was unusual for us, working in a hectic business and running an even more hectic home! It was a complete change for a couple of days, being waited on hand and foot by the staff, for whom nothing was too much trouble.”

“We were so happy that we won the competition. The trip was absolutely fantastic in every way. You can even go on a website (which is saved in my Favourites) that shows you exactly where in the world the ship is, as well as views from the external webcams. I keep having a look, but Emma keeps telling me to stop torturing myself, especially as the ship is sailing over to the Caribbean for the winter!”
