Smartphones and tablets are getting more and more popular, and the Eulogica development team is working to extend the reach of our software accordingly. Our latest new feature on this front is Eulogica diary syncronisation.

Eulogica has always contained a graphical diary, or calendar if you like. It displays funerals as well as other events like viewings, transport jobs, arrangement meetings, and so on. You can now synchronise this with various mobile devices as well as other diary systems, like MS-Outlook.

As most Eulogica users will know, our software can be configured to display diary entries in various colours. Typically, this will depend on the nature of the event – for example, viewings can show in yellow and transports in blue.

Another popular option is colour-coding by branch. For example in an organization that has three branches, their funerals can be displayed in yellow, red and orange respectively… or any other colours you like.

The Eulogica diary can be of great help and is much loved by Funeral Directors, but traditionally has only been available inside Eulogica on a traditional PC. Now we offer a feature to synchronize the diary with mobile devices and other diary systems of all sorts.

The syncronisation feature is new in Eulogica version 6.6 and is based on Google Calendar. That is the free and popular calendar system and app available on the web, for iOS devices like the iPad or the iPhone, and for Android devices from Sony, Samsung, Nexus, HTC, Motorola and others.

The Eulogica diary synchronisation can also be configured to work with MS-Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, and literally hundreds of other calendar apps and applications.

Once configured, the Eulogica diary syncronisation will ensure funerals, viewings and other entries from Eulogica will appear on the devices you desire. Such entries will appear in-between other (non-Eulogica) diary entries that you might have. Depending on the particular app or application, you should also be able to switch among views that include or exclude the Eulogica entries, at the touch of a few buttons.

The syncronisation routine has various options for advanced configuration. For example, for a business with several branches, a configuration can be prepared so that people working at each branch only get entries synchronised that are relevant to them. Syncronisation of specific categories of Eulogica entries, like just transport jobs, can also be configured. In a large organization, managers at various levels can have systems set up to synchronize entries for the geographical and/or functional areas they are responsible for.

For now, the Eulogica diary syncronisation is one-way only. So if a user changes the date of a funeral, say, in Eulogica on a PC, this will update accordingly across all connected devices and systems – but not vice versa. Two-way synchronisation is also an attractive idea, but raises a number of questions about how to safely manage changes, so we will leave this for the future.

If you are interested in diary syncronisation, just have a think about how you would like your Eulogica diary entries to sync across various devices – then ask our Eulogica support staff to configure it for you!
